Bangkok Bike Tour & Hotel Guide Travel Show
Just when you think you have done all there is to do in Bangkok – iTravel Channel ups the ante! In this episode we take an intrepid bike tour of the hidden, exotic and stunning parts of Bangkok.
Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok
Our tour begins at Hua Lamphong Railway station. Officially named Bangkok Railway Station, Thailand’s main station’s construction began in 1910 and took six years to complete. It is said to be modeled on Frankfurt’s Rail Station in Germany using a stand out Italian Neo-Renaissance style and today still sees over 60,000 passengers through it’s doors daily!
Bangkok City Streets
The best thing about being on a bike means you can navigate down the narrow alleyways behind the main streets and see ‘real’ Bangkok life. From tiny family-owned stalls, to riverside markets, stunning temples and everything in between. You move fast enough to take in vast portions of the city, but slow enough to savor the sights, sounds and smells.
Talad Kao in China Town, Bangkok
A great place to explore is China Town known locally as Talad Kao. Over 100 years old, these alleys are full of everything you could ever want to buy including fresh and preserved food where the best Chinese chefs shop daily.
Chaophraya River in Bangkok
You can cross the Chaophraya River with your bike by traditional Thai Long tail boat to the old capital of Thon Buri. This is a lovely way to catch your breath before seeing the quieter way of life and multicoloured neighbourhoods on the opposite side of the river.
King’s Mother Memorial Park in Thonburi
Another highlight is the King’s Mother Memorial Park. Situated in the Princess Mother’s childhood home of Thonburi, the Park was built by His Majesty King Bhumibol in 1993 as a tribute to his mother. Filled with families and tai chi enthusiasts – it is a beautiful park and a perfect tribute to a much-loved member of the Royal family.
Crown Plaza Hotel Lumpini
When staying in Bangkok I recommend staying right in the thick of all the parties, people, shopping, dining and more – but go somewhere that you don’t feel like you are. Located on Rama 4 Road in Silom, Crown Plaza Bangkok Lumpini has that prime position. Its close to the lush Lumpini Park, with its famous resident lizards, and the Business district as well as world class shopping!
Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park Hotel Facilities and Amenities
Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park has 241 guest rooms of different room types and suites, all designed with style and comfort in mind. Each room is fully equipped with a 32- inch LCD TV with over 20 satellite channels, a personal safe, a full set of bathroom amenities and you can stay connected with complimentary high-speed wireless or broadband Internet access. Special mention must go to their fabulous so-called ‘sexy bathroom’ – its spacious, and not only has a big shower but also a huge bath – a winner in my books!
Panorama Restaurant in Crowne Plaza Bangkok
Found on level 23, Panorama is an All Day Dining restaurant with a sleek yet informal feel. They prepare the best of Thai, Asian and International cuisine all from an open kitchen environment – so from pan to table you can see what’s going on with your food!
We rode through the chaos that is Bangkok Traffic and found the city’s hidden beauty, discovered one of the best-located hotels that feels like its worlds away and we had a blast! So go out and find the unseen sides of this huge city and we promise you will be amazed.
