Facts show that one fifth of the world’s population celebrates Chinese New Year. This year, it will take place from February 8th to 22nd – welcoming in the ‘Year of the Monkey’. There are 14% of Thailand’s people are considered ethnic Chinese and Thailand expects a million visitors during the New Year. People celebrate across the country but if you’re in Bangkok, Yaowarat Road in the heart of Chinatown is home to the biggest celebrations. The streets are festooned with red lanterns and come alive with dragon parades and lion dances. Expect that restaurants and stalls overflow with mouthwatering Chinese food on this special occasion.
