Be Bus Savvy: Sai Tai Taling Chan

For your ultimate cultural experiences!

The newly renovated Sai Tai taling Chan is Bangkok’s Southern bus terminal. It covers the Southern and South Eastern part of Thailand with its stunning beaches. Getting there might be a challenge but not to worry, this video has you covered. For that ultimate beach and island experience, this bus station offers to take you to Krabi, Samui and Phuket- the places to be and be seen! Sai Tai buses will take you there.

Arguably the most interesting bus terminal between its brothers and sisters, the Southern Bus Terminal, renovated in 2007, is located on the Thonburi side of the river. Known to the Thais as Sai Tai Taling Chan, make sure you don’t confuse it with Sai Tai Mai which is the old station at the old location. This one is new and modern and, to say the least, quite surprising. Getting to Sai Tai Taling Chan is no piece of cake.

The best option is to take our good Bangkok friend the Taxi- Metre. But if braving it is why you’re in Thailand in the first place, then take the 511 local bus from inner city areas like Petchaburi, Ratchathewi BTS Station, Democracy Monument OR the 515 from Victory Monument. Once you’re there, you can then find buses to take you to the various South and Southwest destinations in Thailand. Sai Tai Taling Chan offers a more modern facility than its counterparts. The terminal is set up more like a shopping centre with retail stores, a range of services on offer 24/7 and a coupon-style food court offering Chinese, Korean and Thai food.

The terminal has organized exits quite like an airport and it also has higher security with guards checking bags. So you can feel a lot safer traveling from Sai Tai Taling Chan. As most of the beautiful seas and islands belong to the south of Thailand, from this bus terminal, you have access to beach towns such as Krabi, Phuket, Koh Samui and Hat Yai- all the places that are a must see or do in Thailand. For more of an adventure, jump off at the port and take the boat to islands further away and more stunning than the ones before it.

From any of the main terminals in Bangkok, but especially this one, you can expect not to be scammed. With an entire floor dedicated to ticket sales, there are no squatters who will take your money and not give you its worth. It is well regulated, cheap and safe.
