Unveiling the best of Chiang Mai
From eye-popping art to exotic animals and delicious food, iTravel can’t wait to unveil the very best of Chiang Mai! From Sunday May 31 – Tuesday June 2 iTravel will be exploring the beautiful Northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, situated among the verdant hillsides of its namesake province. This historic city is a former Lanna capital and features many beautiful temples as well as an array of more contemporary attractions; Chiang Mai also boasts a plethora of tempting restaurants where you can sample delectable regional dishes.
During our visit iTravel will be staying at the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel. After checking in, first up on our packed itinerary is a trip to Art in Paradise, a popular family attraction. This 3D art museum features a selection of eye-popping artworks grouped into 8 ‘zones’ – including Surrealism, Dinosaur and, of course, Lanna – and is a great place to snap some amazing photographs to share with your friends on social media.
China Kitchen at Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai
After touring the museum it will be time for lunch and iTravel is thrilled to get the chance to dine at Shangri-La Hotel’s rebranded China Kitchen, a relaxed but ultra-stylish restaurant where we will be treated to some mouth-watering Szechuan dishes!
After our meal, iTravel will take part in the Visakha Bucha procession up the slopes of Doi Suthep to the temple at the top; this annual religious pilgrimage is an unforgettable experience and iTravel can’t wait to share it with our viewers.
Chiang Mai Zoo
Our second day in Chiang Mai will involve two unmissable animal attractions. In the morning we’ll be wandering around Chiang Mai Zoo, nestled among lush foliage at the feet of Doi Suthep. The zoo features a variety of attractions including a 2.5 acre walk-through aviary, an open zoo area with elevated walkway and a Children’s Zoo with a playground, adventure area and small and large animal exhibits. The zoo is home to a range of exotic species including giant pandas, koala, elephants, zebras and Cape fur seals.
Chiang Mai Night Safari
After the zoo iTravel will spend the afternoon filming at Tawa Bistro De Naga and Thapae Gate before enjoying the Chiang Mai Night Safari experience, a great way to get up close and personal to nocturnal animals you wouldn’t see much of during the day. As well as diverse species of wildlife – including tigers and wolves – this attraction features a musical fountain and laser light show, and even cabaret and dancing shows. Following on from this thrilling nocturnal experience we will head to Kad Café for dinner and some more shooting.
Our final day in Chiang Mai will include some shooting of our delightful hotel, the Shangri-La, before we make our way to Doi Inthanon, our final Chiang Mai attraction of this media trip. Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in the Land of Smiles and is highly popular with both local and foreign tourists. As well as boasting two stately chedi dedicated to the current King and Queen, the mountain is also home to picturesque waterfalls and scenic walkways and is a stunning natural attraction in Chiang Mai Province, so be sure to stay tuned and find out more about it – and, of course, Chiang Mai’s other must-see hotspots!
