Buses leave for Chiang Mai regularly each day from Bangkok’s Northern Bus Terminal
, with different prices and trip durations available. A journey on a government bus takes approximately 12 hours and costs between 400 and 800 THB. On a 1st class bus the journey lasts 9 hours, for a cost of around 800 THB.
You can catch either a day train for 611 THB or an overnight sleeper train for 881THB to Chiang Mai from Bangkok Hualamphong
. There are several daily trains departing between 7am and 10pm.
