Loy Krathong, one of the most glamorous festivals in Thailand
Loy Krathong is arguably one of the most beautiful festivals in Thailand. With hundreds or even thousands of Krathong's candle floating on the river, creates an amazing scenery you would never forget. Loy Krathong is the holiday set to honor and appreciate the goddess of the river. The exact date of the holiday is determined by the lunar calendar. Loy Krathong” is a rough translation, but it more or less means “to float a basket.”
Build your own Krathong
You can build your own Krathong to float in the river. Thai people construct elaborate lotus-shaped rafts (krathongs) decorated with incense, flowers, and candles and release them into lakes, rivers, canals, and the sea to pay respect to the goddess of the rivers.
The beliefs of Loy Krathong
Buddhist believe in reincarnations, and there's a belief that if you celebrate Loy Krathong with your loved ones, you will be reunited with that person once again in your reincarnations.
