Travel and Getting to Yangon, Myanmar

While the country has opened up to the west with economic and political reforms, entry to the country is primarily by air via Yangon’s International Airport (RGN). Several airlines including Bangkok Airways, Myanmar Airways International (MIA), Myanmar National Airlines, Nok Air, Thai Airways, Thai Air Asia, and Thai Smile, operate into Yangon from nearby Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Between both Bangkok airports and Yangon, there’s a minimum of 17 daily flights, competitively priced, at approximately 1 hour 15 minutes in length.

Other international airlines including Korean Air, All Nippon Airways (ANA), and Cathay Pacific, provide flights from their hubs including Seoul-Incheon (ICN), Tokyo’s Narita Intl Airport (NRT), and Hong Kong International (HKG). These big city airline hubs provide convenient connections to Yangon for travelers originating in Europe and North America.
