Production Crew Back in Myanmar: Day Three and Four
After our successful pilot series from Yangon, Myanmar, The iTravel Channel TV team returns to Myanmar for yet another production. Once again, morning arrives early on day three and our production crew is up and at `em. Like yesterday, the weather at the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock Pagoda) located atop Kyaikhtiyoe Hill remains cool and misty.
The production team awakes to a cool, foggy sunrise, up in the clouds at Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda. Despite limited visibility, the crew obtains great footage. After spending the morning up on Golden Rock, the crew packs up and makes the journey back to base camp. Once down from the hill, everyone returns to Yangon with the drive taking the better part of the day.
Once in Yangon, the the film crew is happy to see Sedona Hotel again and checks-in for an additional night. So far, its been all work and no play in Myanmar. This is the first evening the production team has a time to truly unwind and relax. However, everyone must be up early the next day to film the Shwedagon Pagoda at sunrise.
From Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon to Heho
The sunrise is delightful with production team getting off to a great start at Shwedagon Pagoda. Morning in Yangon, Myanmar, also means merit making and other religious and cultural traditions.
Once finished filming at Shwedagon Pagoda, the team is pleasantly surprised with a nearby local market. Bright fresh flowers are for sale and the delightful smell of freshly cooked food is in the air. However, time flies by and it’s time to return to Sedona Hotel to wrap-up filming in Yangon.
The crew meets with the Deputy Director General of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Ms. Khin Than Win, over lunch at Sedona Hotel. After a pleasant lunch and conversation, everyone poses for group photos.
Flight from Yangon to Heho | Inle Lake, Myanmar
Next, it’s time to check-out of Sedona Hotel and say goodbye to Yangon for now. The crew travels to Yangon International Airport (RGN) for a domestic flight to Heho, Myanmar, (HEH) on Mann Yadanarpon Airlines (7Y). Upon arrival at the airport, the crew checks-in for Mann Yadanarpon Airlines Flight 241 to Heho, Myanmar. Heho is the airport which serves the popular Inle Lake destination.
The production team had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Tin Kyi Min, Director of Business Development, Mann Yadanarpon Airlines, just prior to our short hop over to Heho. After meeting, we posed for a group photo.
Mann Yadanarpon Airlines is a domestic carrier based in Mandalay. When booking tickets, look for their IATA code 7Y or their IACO code which is MYP. The airline operates a modern fleet of ATR-72-600 series aircraft to most domestic markets in Myanmar.
A few minutes prior to the boarding of Mann Yadanarpon Airlines 241, the production team is allowed to board first. The production gurus obtain footage and photographs of the ATR-72-600 aircraft on the ramp, including a group shot with the flight crew.
The boarding of Mann Yadanarpon Airlines 241 completes. During the short taxi-out, the cabin-crew prepares for departure. Upon taking to the active runway, the ATR-72-600 accelerates just past 100 knots (KIAS) and the plane gracefully lifts into the Burmese skies.
Our team enjoys the flight over to Heho. The flight includes great views of the Burmese countryside combined with warm hospitality from the flight attendants on-board Mann Yadanarpon Airlines.
The production crew is now in Heho, located near Inle Lake. The team is nearly ready to capture the magic of the famous Hot Air Balloon Festival in Taunggyi, Myanmar.
