River Kwai Bridge Week 2015 in Kanchanaburi, Thailand
This upcoming weekend includes River Kwai Bridge Week in Kanchanaburi. Running until the 7th of November, the world famous Bridge over River Kwae becomes the focus of celebrations. The bridge was built by Allied prisoners-of-war (POWs) during World War II. The week long event highlights historical and archaeological exhibits as a carnival takes place among folk and cultural performances. Learn the history of the bridge, ride on World War II vintage trains, and last but not least, take in a spectacular light and sound show which re-enacts the bridge’s World War II legacy.
Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2015
South on the tropical island of Phuket is the King’s Cup Regatta. The event runs from December 4th through the 12th and is easily Asia’s largest and best known regatta. The regatta is held the first week of December each year to coincide with the King’s birthday. Then event is organised by the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organising Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.
