Love was in the Air at the launch of the Singha Park Chiang Rai International Balloon Fiesta
Singha Park hosts the Singha Park Chiang Rai International Balloon Fiesta every year and what better time to launch the fiesta than on Valentine’s Day. A ride in a hot-air balloon has long been seen as a romantic thing to do for couples.
The thought of sipping champagne while floating lazily through the air and sharing breathtaking views is a dream adventure for lovers to share with each other. Singha Park made those dreams come true for 20 lucky couples in Chiang Rai who chose Valentine’s Day as the perfect day to register their marriages.
Getting an Early Start on a Special Day
The special day started early as the couples couldn’t wait to get to the park and make their marriages official. Once the formalities had been taken care of, the newlywed couples were invited by Singha Park to board one of the over 30 colorful hot-air balloons on hand.
The balloons gather from around the world every February to compete in the Singha Park Chiang Rai International Balloon Fiesta, which takes place this year from February 14th to the 18th. So, if you missed the Valentine’s Day launch and celebrations, you can still make a trip to Singha Park and see the balloons up close. The event takes place from 4:30 PM to midnight. Entry to the event is absolutely free.
The balloons are a vividly colorful and whimsical sight, as some of them are in shapes that you wouldn’t expect to see when you imagine the typical balloon, from cartoon characters to a baby dinosaur emerging from its shell and even a red rose colored, heart-shaped balloon that set the theme for the day. Thailand was represented as well by Singha’s own blue and white balloon.
Ongoing festivities Through the Evening
After the sun went down, the event featured a concert under the stars by Thai performing artist Songkran, the winner of ‘The Voice’ Thailand, Season 2, who serenaded the young lovers on hand for Valentine’s Day.
The nightly concerts continue throughout the length of the fiesta and will feature some of the best performing and recording artists in Thailand and admission to the concerts is the same as the event, absolutely free.
If you’re in Chiang Rai during the fiesta’s run, you owe it yourself to make the trip to Singha Park and enjoy the grandeur of the balloons as well as enjoy a free concert under the stars.
