Mornings Making Merit
Pia started the morning by the Chao Phraya River making merit for the Monks. Merit making or “Tum Bun” in Thai, means to offer necessities for monks to use in their everyday lives. Ranging from food, drinks, medicines, or even little things like hygienic products.
Making Merit is important among Thai people because, in Buddhism, there is a belief that what goes around comes around. People who do good deeds, deserve good consequences for their actions. This is why merit making is a way to cherish their lives.
Pia showed great respect for all the monks as she offered them rice and other food as they came past in the early time of the morning. The head monk also approached Pia and blessed her saying that in her next life she will come back as Miss Universe Thailand. He offered Pia a sacred amulet which Pia accepted with the highest respect.
The merit making was then met with a cooking class not too far away from the merit making area. Arriving at the cooking class, Pia looked enthusiastic to cook the famous Pad Thai. She was impressed with the setup of the kitchen which was held in a beautiful traditional teak style building at the salathip restaurant in the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok.
As she cooked and added the ingredients she said that “one of the best things about Thailand is the food”. The room was filled with a great smell of freshly made Pad Thai and she even told the chef “that was very quick”. “You should give me the recipe for the sauce”.

Inside the room, laid beautiful fruit carving artwork and artists carving fruit which Pia loved seeing. She was very impressed to see a watermelon carving of the Miss Universe crown, she even jokingly said: “There you are I’ve been looking for you”.
While she had the time before making her way to the next destination, Pia updated her online fans by taking some photos and filming the area to keep them updated.
