Wishing you the very best for 2016
Welcome you all to a very special edition of iTravel Exclusives where we will be taking a look back at all the amazing things we have seen, done and enjoyed in 2015! And wow, what a year it has been.
We have taken you all across Thailand, showing you amazing and unforgettable things along the way. From the deep south to the far North and from the Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand, we have been there and taken you with us for the ride. We have seen soaring mountains, tranquil rivers, turquoise oceans, white sand beaches and exquisite temples. We have come face to face with some weird and wonderful wildlife, met fascinating people from every possible walk of life and truly immersed ourselves in the artistic and cultural heritage for which Thailand is so deservedly famed.
Throughout the year we have taken you on a journey to ‘Discover Thainess’, introducing you to all the charms, traditions and eccentricities that make Thailand and its people so special and unique. We took you off the tourist trail to uncover Thailand’s hidden gems, helping to unmask some of its best kept secrets along the way.
We showcased Issan’s unique cultural, artistic and natural heritage, from Koen Kaen’s regal nine storey stupa, to the romantic beauty of the Red Water Lily Lake in Nong Han and the mist-shrouded mountains of Loei.
We also exposed the untouched natural splendour of Thailand’s Northern provinces, from Petchabun’s Alpine like peaks to the laid-back charms of Nan, plus many more besides. We also got to experience many of Thailand’s most awe inspiring, colourful and spiritual festivals. From the grand new year celebrations in Bangkok, to the water-filled madness of Songkran. In addition to such fun and frivolity we also highlighted Thailand’s spiritual side by attending sacred ceremonies for Visaka Bucha day in Chiang Mai, Loy Krathong in both Tak and Bangkok and an enchanting candle festival in Ubon Ratchathani.
The year was also tinged with some sadness, when a bomb ripped through a popular Hindu shrine in central Bangkok in mid-August. Whilst we joined the nation and entire world in mourning those we lost, we also couldn’t help but be inspired by how a senseless act of violence could in fact bring an entire people together in a spirit of unity, peace and love. We were proud to be a part of the #BangkokStrong campaign and will always be proud to call Bangkok our home.
Of course this is just a small snapshot of all that we have covered in 2015, but I think you can all agree with me when I say that it really has been quite a year. But of course whilst one year is ending another is about to begin, and I for one am incredibly excited to see where 2016 will take us. But wherever it is, i hope that you will be here to experience it with us.
Thank you all so much for your ongoing support, it really does sustain, motivate and inspire us. We look forward to continuing this epic journey of discovery with you all next year. All that remains is for me to wish you all the very best for 2016, we shall see you in the new year!
