Attention all Shopaholics – this video is for you!
Every year Thailand holds its ‘Amazing Thailand Grand Sale.’ And in 2015, from June 15 – Aug 15, shoppers can enjoy sales of up to 70% off across the country in all leading malls. And the only way to celebrate the launch of this sale is to put celebrities with a passion for fashion to the test.
Mr. Tim Yap and Ms. Tessa Valdes are two Filipino TV Hosts and celebrities with fashion credibility like no others. They were invited to Bangkok to take part in the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale Shopping Challenge and iTravel followed them on their journey.
The challenge consisted of 15 teams from all over Asia being put into pairs to represent their countries. Armed with a Thai translator, each team had 1.5 hours and 10,000 Thai Baht to buy all the items on the list they were given by the event organizers. They also had to collect all the objects across four huge malls – running literally kilometers in the Bangkok heat!
But first, to see their style and shopping techniques ahead of the big challenge Natalie met with the stylish pair, Tim and Tessa, for more shopping. They headed to Central World, one of Bangkok’s best shopping malls filled with incredible shops from big brands to small Thai boutiques. And the area that caught the eagle eyes of Tim and Tessa was the Thai Designers. In particular, FabLab, a stunning shop in Central World containing only Thai designers. From glitzy accessories, unique and exotic clothing and even Thai makeup lines – Tim and Tessa were in fashion heaven!
We then travelled to Siam Paragon in customized Tuk Tuks ready for the challenge to begin! After the race started, team Philippines was leading the pack by sprinting off into the hallowed halls of one of Bangkok’s biggest malls. And they kept this pace up the whole time, literally running as fast as they could. Despite their incredible pace, they were pipped for the win by Team Mumbai, but came just behind them to grab second place!
And how else would two fashion lovers commiserate their close loss? With shopping of course. We waved goodbye to the fabulous, friendly and eternally stylish duo as they hit Bangkok’s shops for another slice of “shopping heaven.”
