No trip to Thailand is complete without experiencing a traditional Thai massage. After a day of sightseeing, incredible food, and shopping, a Thai massage will help you relax and unwind. Plus, the cost is quite reasonable.

Steeped in Buddhist tradition Thai massage is said to have originated by a physician in India. As the practice spread to Thailand, new techniques developed and evolved. Thai massage is an ancient form of healing combining acupressure with yoga postures.

Thai Massage: Feet Wash

Before getting that traditional Thai massage, the masseuse will first clean your feet in a bowl of warm soapy water. It may tickle a bit, but sit back and relax.

Thai Massage: Clothing

Worried about what to wear or scared of being stark naked? First, relax and don’t worry. The massage therapist will provide you with a seat of clothes to wear.

Thai Massage Technique

Thai massage isn’t for for everyone. However, for most it’ll be a relaxing experience. During a Thai massage, the masseuse will bend your body in ways you’ve knew were possible. You’ll be pulled, stretched, compressed, and kneaded.

Should the pressure become too much or you feel uncomfortable, remember these words “bow bow”, this means less pressure. On the other hand, use the words “knock knock” if you desire additional pressure.

However, if the pressure, pulling, and stretching described above is too much, there’s many other types of massages available.

Thai Oil Massage

If a a deep pressure massage is not young thing, there’s nice relaxing oil massages. A full body oil massage does require no clothing, apart from underwear. A Thai oil massage is relaxing as it promotes blood circulation and smooths the skin.

Foot “Reflexology”

Been walking around on your feet all day and they’re starting to ache? Why not grab a nice foot oil massage to relax you back into that less painful state for Thailand offers exactly that. Depending on how long you would like, prices start from about 200 THB. Say goodbye to any aches and pains you may be having for they will be gone by the time is up.
