Thailand at London World Travel Market 2015

Unveiling its brand new logo

Thailand made their first appearance at the World Travel Market 35 years ago. Without skipping a beat, The Tourism Authority of Thailand returned again, this year to release their new logo.

The new logo debuded at the WTM is extremely fitting for the Land of Smiles, incorporating the warm Thai smile. With the release in London, an iconic red, double decker bus served as the perfect platform to highlight the new logo with a bus wrapping.

The bus, prominently wrapped with the new Amazing Thailand smile logo was put on display in front of an exhibition hall. Visitors were able to hop on the bus to sample Doi Chang coffee and enjoy a free Thai massage.

Highlighting the nation was the Thai Pavillon with a total of 51 exhibitors including hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies promoting numerous Thai tourism products. The pavilion came “alive” with high-tech and high-touch activities bearing the “Discover Amazing Stories” concept.

Going high-tech was the “I-Smile” activity sporting the TAT’s world-class information technology tools to promote tourism. Here, guests were able to check out the TAT website, mobile application, plus events and online campaigns.
Exotic prizes including Thai fabric and bag tags with the new Amazing Thailand logo were given to guests. Visitors had the opportunity to experience a Thai silk weaving demonstration from Ban Phon Phrae Wa Silk Weaving Village in the Kalasin province. There was also a workshop for attendees to have a go at making silk keychains and a new book, “The Routes of Thai Threads” was also distributed.

The TAT arranged other activities including a Thailand Networking Lunch, the annual “Thailand Green Excellence Awards” ceremony, and the “Amazing Thailand: Royal Galya Reception” on the 2nd of November.

On the 3rd of November, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, participated in the 2015 UNWTO/WTM Ministers’ Summit on the theme of Destination Branding: New Challenges in a Changing Market.
TAT Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn concluded, “Our TAT corporate team and the TAT London Office have worked very hard to ensure Thailand stands out among the hundreds of exhibitors at this year’s WTM.

“Personally, since this is my first time attending the event, I am much looking forward to meeting the team as well as our long-standing partners and friends in the UK, and becoming better acquainted with the phenomenal changes taking place in the global travel and tourism industry.”
