Thailand is so much more than beaches, mangos and the bright lights of Bangkok as you’ll discover in Udon Thani!
On iTravel’s second day in glorious Udon Thani, the intrepid iTravel team will spend the first part of the morning filming at our excellent hotel, the Centara Hotel and Convention Centre, situated in the centre of the city. At about 10am we will then be heading out to Ban Chiang World Heritage Centre, a museum and archaeological site located in Nong Han district. A remarkable site studied by many local and international scholars, Ban Chiang gives you a fascinating window into Thailand’s ancient past and can be dated all the way back to 1,500 BC. Many amazing artifacts have been discovered here, ranging from ceramics to ornaments and bronze tools.
There are several main excavation sites at Ban Chiang, one of which is open to the public, and there is also a museum in the village which is well worth a visit – stay tuned to see what iTravel learns about Thailand’s heritage at this one-of-a-kind attraction.
After lunch we will be going to a salt farm in Ban Dung district, where traditional rice fields have given way to high-quality rock salt production. At the farm we will visit you can also visit a salt spa, with pampering treatments that make use of a variety of salt-based products.
iTravel plans to spend an interesting 3 hours filming at the salt farm and trying out the spa, before making our way back to Udon Thani city for a delicious dinner and a night tour of this charming provincial capital – the ideal way to end our second day in the province.
