Behind the Scenes with THAI Smile Airways Crew in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand
iTravel is once again heading to Thailand’s picturesque Isaan region, this time to Ubon Ratchathani, to document the town’s delightful Candle Festival which takes place every year at this time. We will arrive early in the morning in time to have breakfast at Sam Chai Coffee, before journeying on to Kong Chiam District, where we will be shooting at Pha Taem National Park.

Upon arrival at Pha Taem National Park we will head to the Visitor Centre to become acquainted with the park’s history then we will go on a scenic walk to a viewpoint over the Mekong River, from where we will be able to see into neighbouring Laos. After savouring the scenery we will walk down the cliff to view the largest prehistoric cave painting in all of Thailand, giving us a window into the lifestyle of the inhabitants of ancient Isaan.

Prae Araya Restaurant in Khong Chiam, Ubon Ratchathani
After our visit to the park we’ll journey back to Khong Chiam to have lunch at Prae Araya on the banks of the Mekong, a restaurant that serves freshly caught fish and other local delicacies.
