From a stunning temple to a pristine eco-attraction, iTravel’s first day in Udon Thani doesn’t disappoint.
iTravel is thrilled to be jetting off to Udon Thani from July 15-17, in order to bring iTravel viewers the big scoop on the province’s amazing natural and cultural attractions. On our first day we will be arriving at Udon Thani’s capital just before 9am and checking into the Centara Hotel & Convention Centre, which occupies a prime position in the very heart of the city. After dropping off our luggage we will head out to pay a visit to Wat Pa Phukon, situated in Na Yung District, 120km from the provincial capital.
Wat Pa Pukhon was built only two years ago and is already famous for its breathtaking location and its majestic reclining Buddha statue, which was carven out of 43 blocks of gleaming white Italian Carrara marble and weighs between 15 and 30 tons. After spending a couple of hours exploring this picturesque temple complex, iTravel will journey on to Kiri Wongkot Village, an award-winning ecotourism project which allows visitors to reconnect with a slower and more traditional way of life, set against a backdrop of spectacular scenery.
At Kiri Wongkot you can go trekking, visit the waterfall, enjoy a delicious lunch in a forest setting and, depending on the season, pick some delicious fruits to take away with you. iTravel will spend about 4 hours exploring this amazing eco attraction before driving back to the vibrant city of Udon Thani for dinner and a well-deserved night’s rest in preparation for the next day’s adventures in this beautiful Isaan province.
