Travelling With Respect. Respecting Buddha
When travelling to a foreign country it is important to respect the religion of the country you are visiting whether or not that religion is your own. Throughout Thailand for example, the main practice of religion is Buddhism.
Buddhist’s don’t believe that Buddha is a God, but that he is a human being that has woken up and can see the true way the world works. Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to insight into the true nature of reality.
Since Buddha images were first created they have been a way to remind Buddhists of his kindness, compassion, his teachings and to feel the highest regard for him. So, it is important not to disrespect the religion when visiting a country like Thailand.
